Due to variability among the requirements for
the restoration of a particular instrument, quotes need to
be provided on a job by job basis. I will give you a
detailed outline of what each job entails.
Past jobs have included such procedures as the regluing of
cracks in both the front and ribs, reshooting the back due
to dilapidation, or removing the front to reglue cracks.
Reshooting can be very difficult due to the need to
plane a curved piece of wood to the absolute minimum so that
it still fits the instrument.
A restoration featured below in the photo shows a job that
required a patch that went straight through the front. More
clearly, a piece of wood was missing in the front so a patch
was required to go through the front, match the existing
grain, and consecutively be retouched so as to blend into
the varnish and disguise the patch.
